Episode 1: Annette

Released: February 28, 2020 by Push Diaries Podcast

Annette Ross was featured on the recent HBO documentary called Any One of Us.  She was paralyzed by an epidural gone wrong. Check her book out Where Fairy Tales Go after the episode.

Annette, have you held resentment to the hospital, or that woman, or God?

What has been the hardest part of moving forward and letting go of the anger or bitterness?

Or most memorable part of how you have overcome it?

Annette answered,

More than the doctor (and this may sound strange), I was upset with God for not watching over me and then for not answering my prayers to walk again. I prayed - went to healers, saw priests, and anyone else who said they might be of help to walk again to no avail...it took me a long while to get right with God again to accept His will to understand why He looked the other way that night -but that’s a narrow view as I try to say in the HBO film Any One Of Us.... We live in a world were we have physical bodies that eventually fail us. We have free will to either be a blessing or curse to others .... over time and for me it was a long time I came to understand the world was not against me that we will all suffer... We will have prayers not answered and faith is the belief of things not seen or realized …And honestly - love helped me overcome all of it. The love of friends and family and those few people who stand by you (and the numbers decreased over time) but it didn’t matter - I knew I was loved and that helped me thru it. It made me realize I still had value and was whole....... nothing else really matters or endures.
